This project, proposed by Europe @t School, about Environment 21 (PDF format), inspired us to name our project “Environment, Our Home”. This project is a success concerning students motivation and commitment with good influences in the
usual classes that spread all around the school community.
The three partner schools have divided the project work and with the local school teams took place the development of the project.
Research has been made; themes and paperwork’s have been argued/discussed and done by students. Many pictures and videos were made as well as some audio presentations. All this work was
studied, developed and presented in the classes.
When it was time to think about the construction
and designing of the joint website, the partner schools after
an enormous brainstorm decided for a joint website where the
teams work appear together under the same topic, instead of
having three websites under the same starting page. (As an
example: in the paperwork
section you will find work from all the schools.)
It was more complicated and difficult to build the website this way because of the frequent and continuous exchange and cooperation that this method required in opposite to the separate
construction of the teams school sites united by the same starting link.
As an example here are some tasks that
the teams have done:
- Students from Archangelos Lakatameia Gymnasium using post-cards with sights of the island, both from the free and
occupied areas make their artistic proposal and send their messages. The beauty of Cyprus scenery,
the archaeological sights, everyday routine but mainly the Turkish occupation are the subjects that preocupy students conscious, and are seen through a naive, fresh and original way testifying the situation on the island
- Students from Escola Profissional de Capelas research and developed, many aspects of the pollution on the island (St. Michaels) writting many paperworks about these problems as well as pictures and videos.
- Students from 3º I.P.S.S.A.R. developed many aspects related with the environment and the respect of laws. Many pictures have been taken.
As a final remark, let us say that the diference of age between students was a wonderful resource of diversity and enrichment to the project.
